Is it or isn't it?
This banjo, marked Butler, Hammersmith, London was
photographed by Clive Hughes in the early 1990's.This fretless 7-string
banjo has many zither banjo characteristics - slotted peg-head, partially
closed back.
A.P. Sharpe made the following brief comment about
Butler in the "Banjo Story":
A
zither-banjo marked "Butler, Haymarket, London" passed through the
hands of A.P Sharpe but no details of this maker of (or, possibly, dealer
in) musical instruments have been discovered.
