"Banjo World"
May 1897
BANJO CONCERT AT STEINWAY
HALL
Olley (sic.) Oakley, who
had journeyed from Birmingham expressly,
played a waltz of his own, entitled "Les
Sylphes", and in response to a very
unanimous encore, gave an excellent rendition
of Cammeyer’s "Andante and Waltz".
We have never heard any other artist so nearly
approach Cammeyer in tone production, and in
saying this, we are giving Mr. Oakley the very
highest praise. Birmingham is very fortunate
in possessing a player who knows how to
handle a zither-banjo.
