The original plate which would have revealed the year of manufacture is missing from this Deluxe No 1 so I had a mother-of-pearl decoration made for the empty recess in the peghead. Thanks to skilful repair work by David Oddie this instrument is now in excellent playing condition. Its tone, however, is much softer than the "Olly Oakley Model". In fact, I’m astonished at the difference considering that the construction and specifications of the two instruments are more or less identical.
