Cherry Creek will organize a family day | News, Sports, Jobs


CHERRY CREEK – Veterans from all branches of the National Army will be celebrated today at Cherry Creek as families come together with games, crafts, food, baseball games, a pit hole corn and music starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.

Tours of Cherry Creek Cemetery will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon. Guidebooks will be available.

The cemetery is located on West Road in the hamlet. Parking will be available on the west side of the cemetery, with transport from the cemetery to the parking area by Kevin O’Brien.

Cherry Creek has many notable people in its history, so a visit to the cemetery will certainly be interesting.

Tours of the Cherry Creek Museum will be offered in conjunction with the cemetery tour. The museum is located on Main Street and exhibits many artifacts honoring the patriotic heritage of North County’s hometown.

Baseball games between boys and girls ages 10-12, with teams from South Dayton and Cherry Creek, will be played at the Main Street Ballpark from noon to 3 p.m. There will also be a corn hole set up for people to play and have fun.

The day’s events conclude with music by Paul Zittel and Pure Country from 3-5 p.m. Popular with fans of all ages, the group entertained widely throughout Western New York in the Music in the Park concert series.

Auxiliary post Pine Valley VFW 2522 will have food available; food from TNT Refreshments will also be available.

Brenda Hendricks, one of the organizers of the event invites the public to “Come celebrate the Red, White and Blue with us as we honor our country and our veterans. Enjoy games, local history, food, music and crafts in the hometown tradition. We hope to see you here.”
