Adventures in nature: snacking on mantids

Thursday, July 7, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Friday, July 8, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Children ages 3-6, accompanied by an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or storytelling, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Prepaid registration required.

2 and 3 outside: turtle time

Friday, July 22, 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Explore nature with your 2 or 3 year old child through interactive activities, a story and a short hike. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Prepaid registration required.

Annual Firefly Celebration and Night Hike

Friday July 8, 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Saturday July 9, 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Yes, over the years we have spotted lightning bugs in the wetlands near the Fountain Creek Nature Center! Learn about the lives of fireflies, make a firefly craft, and go on a hike to find these rare wonders in the park. $4/member, $5/non-member. Prepaid registration required.

Nature Camp: Wild Kids Adventures (6e-8e grades)

Monday to Friday, July 11 to 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This middle school camp offers more mature and relaxed experiences. Wilderness survival lessons, team building challenges, fishing, longer hikes, and nature identification lessons take campers to the next level as they grow with nature. $140/member, $150/non-member. Prepaid registration required.

Active Adults: Native Pollinator Lecture and Hike

Saturday July 23, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Guest speaker David Woolly will regale us with a lesson in lesser-known but critically important pollinators that we can seek out and lend a hand. Then we will walk along the nature trail to find pollinators and other insects in action. $4/member, $5/non-member. Prepaid registration required.

Saturday July 30, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

The summer air is filled with the songs of insects. Field crickets, tree crickets, cicadas and grasshoppers add to the cacophony of a summer afternoon. Come and find out about their calls and try to catch them in the act. Crafts, hiking and games included. $4/member, $5/non-member. Prepaid registration required.
